Lighting Asia’s Largest Water Playground
ENTTEC transforms Asia’s largest water playground into a luminous wonderland. 36 STORM controllers orchestrate synchronized lighting across record-breaking attractions—from firefly sparkles above lazy rivers to dynamic patterns chasing riders down towering slides—ensuring the magic never stops while maintenance crews service individual zones without darkening the adventure.

Chimelong Water Park in Guangzhou stands as one of Asia’s most visited water attractions, welcoming millions of guests annually across its 400-acre site. Since opening in 2007, the park has earned multiple Guinness World Records for its innovative rides and massive scale, including the HIVE 35 Family Tower Complex and the HydroMAGNETIC LIM MAMMOTH Coaster – engineering marvels that define the park’s impressive skyline.
In April 2025, Chimelong’s engineering team approached ENTTEC with an ambitious challenge: unify six different fixture types across their facility—from flexible wall washers tracing architectural curves to precision flood lights—while ensuring maintenance crews could service individual zones without darkening attractions for millions of annual visitors.

The solution? A distributed architecture built on 36 STORM 10 controllers paired with DIN RDS4 Mk2 splitters that delivers both unified control and zone-specific flexibility. The system needed to handle massive scale while keeping operations simple—allowing staff to schedule complex lighting sequences across the entire park or adjust individual zones with just a few clicks.
The system manages over 330 DMX universes through a fiber optic backbone combined with Cat5e distribution, split across two independent zones. Zone A illuminates the HIVE 35 Family Tower Complex with its intricate network of slides and platforms, while Zone B brings the Launched HydroMAGNETIC LIM MAMMOTH Coaster to life with synchronized effects that follow the ride’s dramatic curves. This dual-zone design means maintenance teams can service one attraction while the other continues its light show uninterrupted.
From the control room, the ELM server (ultimate version) manages over 330 universes while the S-Play‘s customized control interface provides unified scheduling of lighting effects across the entire park. This combination sends DMX512 signals to an impressive array of fixtures: flexible wall washers that trace architectural curves, flexible outline lights defining edges, regular wall washers for broad coverage, flood lights illuminating guest areas, firefly lights adding atmospheric sparkle, and gobo projectors creating dynamic patterns.
The S-Play interface makes operation surprisingly straightforward—each partition can be individually controlled for on/off switching and effect changes, allowing operators to create zone-specific moods or park-wide synchronized shows without needing deep technical knowledge.
The Chimelong installation showcases how sophisticated lighting control can transform guest experiences and bring this water wonderland to life—and with room for expansion built in, this spectacular system might just grow even bigger.
