QED3001 Pixel Protocol
QED3001 is a data-only, single-wire addressable RGB pixel IC with 12-bit-per-channel PWM and an optional redundant data line in its SOP14 package.

Strengths
- Single-wire, self-clocking wiring: only power, ground and one data line are needed, reducing cable cores and connector complexity compared with two-wire clocked chips.
- 12-bit-per-channel PWM (4,096 levels per primary) delivers fine, banding-resistant gradients and better low-end dimming detail than 8-bit parts.
- Wide 5V to 32V pixel supply suits higher-voltage strings and longer runs, and the SOP14 package adds a redundant data line to keep a chain running if a pixel fails.
Limitations
- As a data-only single-wire protocol it is timing-sensitive: it relies on tight pulse-width encoding with no clock line to resync against, so long or electrically noisy runs need careful data injection and short controller-to-first-pixel leads.
- The redundant data line is available only on the SOP14 package (not SOP8/10), the part is RGB only (no white channel), and its manufacturer provenance is not firmly established, which can complicate reliable sourcing and second-sourcing.
Overview
QED3001 is a data-only, single-wire addressable RGB pixel protocol: each LED integrates its own controller, latches its data slot from the serial stream and forwards the remainder down the chain, so no separate clock conductor is needed. It carries 12-bit-per-channel colour (4,096 levels per primary) for smooth gradients, accepts a wide 5V to 32V pixel supply and refreshes at 1000Hz, comfortably flicker-free for the rated up-to-34fps capture.
