Strengths
- Native RGBW: a dedicated white channel alongside red, green and blue, driven at 8 bits per channel, which suits accurate whites and pastel tints without mixing them from RGB alone.
- Wide 5 to 24V operating range, unusually flexible for a single-wire pixel, letting installers run higher voltages to reduce copper loss and extend usable run length before injection.
- Single-wire, self-clocking design keeps wiring simple (power, ground and one data line) and its 1200Hz PWM is comfortably camera-safe for typical shooting up to 40fps.
Limitations
- No redundant data line: a single failed pixel or broken data joint blanks everything downstream, so long runs benefit from planned injection points and spares.
- 8-bit-per-channel resolution and a 1200Hz refresh are adequate rather than generous. Colour is fine for general use but low-end dimming can step visibly, and camera-safety holds up to about 40fps, not far beyond, so verify against your actual frame rate.
- The manufacturer and an authoritative datasheet are not firmly established, so confirm exact timing and voltage behaviour on your real stock before committing a large install.
Overview
The P9412 is a data-only, single-wire addressable pixel driver: each SMD5050 package integrates its own controller, latches 8-bit-per-channel RGBW data, then forwards the remainder downstream, so a chain needs only power, ground and one self-clocking data line. It operates across a wide 5 to 24V range, which helps limit voltage drop on longer runs, and its 1200Hz PWM is comfortably flicker-free for cameras up to 40fps. There is no redundant data line. ENTTEC pixel controllers (OCTO 71521, PIXELATOR MINI and MK2 70067/70068, DIN PIXIE 73539, PLINK Injectors) drive a wide range of pixel protocols; contact ENTTEC about chips not listed here.
