Strengths

  • 16-bit per-channel greyscale (48-bit colour) delivers far finer gradient and low-end dimming resolution than 8-bit data-only chips, keeping fades smooth and reducing visible banding.
  • The two-wire clocked interface separates data from an explicit clock line, giving strong timing tolerance that suits longer chains and higher data rates without relying on tight self-clocking windows.
  • A 3840Hz PWM rate sits comfortably above the rated 128fps capture, a sensible margin that keeps the output flicker-free and camera-safe for broadcast and video work without chasing needlessly high refresh figures.

Limitations

  • Being clocked, it needs a second clock conductor: that adds wiring and cost, introduces another point of failure, and a high-frequency clock line can radiate EMI in sensitive installations. The timing-tolerance benefit is genuine but comes at that cost, and the wider market is trending toward data-only single-wire chips to avoid both.
  • No redundant/backup data line (per the spec), so a single upstream break drops the rest of the chain; plan injection points and spares accordingly. It is also RGB only, with no white channel, so it is not an RGBW option.

Overview

The ICND2110 is a clocked RGB LED pixel driver: it uses separate data and clock lines rather than a single self-clocking wire, which improves timing tolerance across longer runs. Each channel carries 16-bit greyscale for fine, banding-resistant fades, and the chip operates across a 5 to 10V supply range. Its 3840Hz PWM keeps output comfortably flicker-free for cameras rated up to 128fps.
